He also announced plans to publish more names and photos of notorious drug peddlers in the region, in newspapers and other media, to aid in their arrest.

This comes at a time when a crackdown on drug peddlers and users has been intensified across the Coast region since the beginning of the week.

The crackdown has seen tens of drug barons and dealers arrested in Lamu and Mombasa.

Speaking in his office, on Tuesday, Kioi revealed an emerging trend by criminals who commit a crime, particularly the drug peddling business in Lamu, and then flee the county to avoid arrest.

He added that no stone would be left unturned in the ongoing crackdown, noting that those involved would be arrested wherever they would be hiding.

This came barely hours after police completed a two-day-long search of suspected drug billionaire Ali Punjani’s palatial mansion.

In the raid, police arrested Punjani’s wife and two other foreigners.
